Meleah has been involved with CHS sports and activities throughout high school. She has participated in cross country for four years getting third as a team and 12th individually earning a letter, dance for four years getting All American three of the years, co-captain, and varsity letters, and track for three years going to state one of the years and lettering. She was Student Life Editor in yearbook for 1 year, Kansas Association for Youth for 4 years, STUCO Representative and Group Leader for one year, class president for three years, Superintendent Advisory Group for four years becoming the vice president for two of those years, helper to the school play for three years, and was in Joe Coles Leadership for 4 years. Of all the sports, cross country has been her favorite, she stated, ¨It has taught me to push myself and have a strong mindset. Cross country has such a great atmosphere and you cheer for everyone. One of her favorite high school memories is spending time with friends and getting third at state cross country this year. While balancing school and sports, Meleah has also worked all four years of high school. She worked as a hair salon receptionist and in the Bright Beginnings Childcare Center.
Meleah’s favorite teacher is Mr. Crowther because he is always making her laugh and easy to talk to. With him being her cross country coach, he was always there for her and pushed her to do her best even when she struggled. He helped her to get the never give up mindset. Meleah was always entertained by the boys in her class no matter the time it was. They made her laugh and have fun during the school day.
When asked what she would miss most about high school Meleah stated “The thing I will miss the most about high school is spending time with my classmates laughing and not having a care in the world.” While she will miss high school greatly Meleah is looking forward to her future. Meleah’s perfect future involves moving back home, having a loving husband, having many kids, having a huge house, being centered around Christ, and being financially stable.
Meleah would like to be remembered as a kind and caring person that works hard. She wants people to think of her as a type of person that would do anything to leave smiles on people's faces. Helping others when she can has allowed her to get the chance to be remembered that way. While wanting to leave everyone she cares for with smiles, Meleah also wants to build her dream home, start her own business, and visit the holy land because she thinks it would be a great experience to walk where Jesus walked.
The advice Meleah would give next year's seniors is “Don’t take it for granted it flies bye. Spend as much time with your classmates and laugh it up.” She would tell next year's freshman “Don’t stress, just enjoy high school. It goes by fast.” Meleah’s senior quote is “Someday we’ll look back and smile, and know it was worth every mile” - Chris Stapleton.

Wade Deters by Torrant Engelken and Ian Arnold
Adam Deters and Lacie Carlson welcomed their first son, Wade Garrett Deters to the world on May 29, 2007. Wade lives on his dad’s farm outside of Centralia. He has two older siblings, Deborah and David. Wade also has four younger siblings William, Oren, Darian, and Randall. After school, Wade plans to return to Highland Community College to obtain his Certificate of Completion in Welding. Through high school, Wade has been involved in football all four years and went to state his junior year. Wade was also involved in track all four years and wrestling for his junior and senior years. Wade’s favorite memory from high school was going to state with the football team, stating it is an experience he will never forget. Wade said the most challenging part of high school was Mrs. Julie Gleason's class because of all the work. He overcame this by completing his work and finishing on time. But if there was one moment Wade could relive it would be his last regional match in wrestling. He was wrestling number 3-ranked wrestler in the league, with Wade being the number 5-ranked wrestler in the league. He went in with confidence, fought hard, and almost came up with the win. One fun fact about Wade, that most people don’t know about, is that his name is from the movie “Roadhouse”. High school prepared Wade for the future by showing him that cutting corners is not the right thing to do and that you are better off doing it right the first time. Wade credits his coach, Brandon Merriman because he helped Wade love the sport of wrestling. When asked to sum up his high school years in one word, Wade said “Boring” because he felt that if he were more involved with clubs, he could have had more fun. To next year's seniors, Wade offered some advice, “Live in the moment because most of you won't step back on to the field, court, or mat, again so don’t take anything for granted.”

She enjoys hanging out with her friends on the weekend and working at Allie’s Cafe. After graduation Kynlee plans on applying to American Airlines for flight attendant training. She hopes to work all summer to make as much money as possible for her future.
Kynlee has been involved in KAYS for four years and currently serves as president. She has also been involved in FCCLA and SADD for four years, yearbook for two years, the school play for three years and FBLA for one year. For sports Kynlee has participated in three years in volleyball and two years as basketball manager. Her favorite part of high school was the play and is very thankful Mr. and Mrs. Conley convinced her to step out of her comfort zone. Her most influential teacher for the last four years is Mr. Crowther. She says he always gave the best advice and had a smile on his face. Kynlee has appreciated him making her a better student, by helping when she asks.
Kynlee’s advice for the upcoming seniors is, “Take it all in and enjoy it while you can because it does go by fast”. If Kynlee could relive one memory from high school it would be her freshman year because she was surrounded by all of her cousins. Kynlee said, “The bonds grew really fast and I will always remember the memories we made in the short year we had”.
The most challenging part of high school for Kynlee was junior year. She had so many ups and downs, trying to balance school work on top of sports. She said she was overwhelmed, but overcame it by making sure to stay on task. She said making time for her friends helped overcome the stressful part of junior year.
When being asked what her favorite memory from high school was she answered with, “Spending time in the concession stand with her classmates and sponsors”. She felt she grew close with them when she was in the concession stand. It was stressful but overall was really fun hanging out with all of them. High school has prepared Kynlee for the future because the teachers have prepared her to be successful and the best version of herself.
Kynlee has grown to be an amazing and hard working student. Her high school journey has been filled with fun memories and learning experiences. While it is bittersweet to say goodbye, she is excited to take the next step and see where life leads. She will always carry these moments and is proud of how hard she's worked over the years.
Kris Fulkerson By Trace Haug
Kris Fulkerson is a young one for his class born on August 6, 2008. Kris has his mom, Rachel Fulkerson, and his two older siblings Karis and Grant to support him as well as his twin brother Gavin. Kris Fulkerson contributed to the KAY, SADD, and FFA groups. He ran cross country and track all four years in high school running for Wetmore Freshman year and Centralia Sophomore, Junior, and Senior year. Kris says his favorite sport was cross country and his favorite years being his Junior and Senior year because his team was able to compete at the state level. One of Kris's favorite memories of high school was his junior year of cross country where Trace Haug Face planed into the muddy, rainy ground at state off the start. Kris would say that out of all the teachers he has ever had the most influential teacher would be Julie Gleason or Misty Poe. After high school, he plans to attend Highland Community College and run cross country and track on a scholarship while pursuing his associate's degree in science.
Diving deeper into Kris's time in high school he would say that the most challenging part of high school was keeping up with all the activities. Kris says if he could relive any moment in high school it would be his Junior year cross country and track seasons. He says that he would relive this moment because he started off poorly both times and if he could have tried just a little harder in the beginning he might have done better in the end. Kris believes that high school has prepared him for life pretty well. One fun fact about Kris is that he is not too bad at anything, Kris picks up on topics fairly fast. If Kris could describe high school in one word he would call it very competitive, he doesn't like to lose and always wants to be better than his opponent. That is Kris Fulkerson.

*SENIOR SPOTLIGHT*
Alina Feldkamp by Erin Smith
Centralia High School´s class of 2026 has many talented and gifted students. Among them is Alina Feldkamp. Alina Noelle was born on December 27th, 2007, to Brandon Feldkamp and Crystalyn Koch. She is the oldest of three children, with siblings Blake and Aria. She has many hobbies, including painting, reading, and playing video games with her friends. Alina is highly involved in school activities, participating in FFA, FBLA, NHS, STUCO, Yearbook, Choir, and Esports, and holding leadership roles in many of them. She has been a dedicated member of FFA all four years and currently serves as Historian. She has participated in FBLA during her junior and senior years and currently holds the position of Secretary. As a member of NHS her junior and senior years, she now serves as Vice President. Additionally, she was involved in STUCO her junior year, where she served as the FFA representative. Her favorite has been FFA, not only for the opportunities it has given her throughout her high school career, but also for the friends she has made. When asked what her favorite high school memory was, she responded with the trip FFA took to the National Convention in Indianapolis. She recalls how, on the way there, they stopped at a reindeer farm. While they were there, they spent plenty of time at the convention center, running amok and completing the GooseChase photo challenge, which her team ultimately won. They also explored the Living History Museum at Conner Prairie. They ended up creating an entire storyline between the historical interpreters, bringing to life a love story between the carpenter and his assistant. They ran around the town helping the blacksmith to pay off his debt at the grocery store so he could craft them a metal heart, which they then had the carpenter gift to his assistant. She explains that it was completely spontaneous and ended up being the funniest and most memorable moment of the trip.
When reflecting on who influenced her most during high school, Alina shared that Mrs. Gleason had the biggest impact. Through her English classes, she not only improved Alina’s speaking and writing but also helped shape her as a person. By constantly challenging her to think deeper, Mrs. Gleason encouraged Alina to become a stronger critical thinker with a greater understanding of the world around her. After graduation, Alina plans to continue her education at Wichita State University, where she will major in Fine Arts with a focus on Graphic Design and Engineering. She is excited to combine her creativity with technical skills as she moves into the next chapter of her life.
To next year’s senior class, Alina offers simple but meaningful advice: make the most of every opportunity and don’t take the little moments for granted. She emphasizes that those small experiences often become the most memorable. Like many students, Alina faced challenges throughout high school. One of the biggest was pushing herself outside of her comfort zone. While it wasn’t always easy to try new things or get involved, she found that stepping out and taking chances led to some of her best experiences. Through her involvement in various organizations, she gained confidence and created lasting memories.
If she could relive one moment, Alina would choose her trip to California for the FBLA National Leadership Conference. From competing to spending time at the beach and sharing countless laughs with friends at the hotel, it was an experience she will always cherish. Alina believes that high school has prepared her well for the future by helping her develop essential skills, such as time management, responsibility, and critical thinking. Through both academics and extracurricular activities, she learned how to collaborate with others, take on new challenges, and grow as an individual.
A fun fact about Alina is that she is a huge Formula 1 fan and watches nearly every race, even those that start as early as four in the morning. When asked to describe her high school experience in one word, Alina chose “rewarding.” Through all the challenges, growth, and involvement, she feels that the hard work and experiences have truly made it all worthwhile.

We crowned our champion last Friday!

Doubleheader starts at 4:30 pm
