PAYROLL CLERK/HUMAN RESOURCES

JOB DESCRIPTION

 TITLE:   Payroll Clerk/Human Resources

 JOB GOAL:  To provide the clerical and financial expertise necessary so that the school district is in compliance with Payroll regulations, IRS regulations and fair labor standards act.  

 TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:   Payroll/Human Resource personnel shall be employed on a contract basis. The salary and terms of the contract shall be mutually agreed upon by the Payroll/Human Resource personnel and the Board of Education.

 QUALIFICATIONS:                                  

- High school diploma with experience in accounting and payroll  procedures                                              -Demonstrated typing abilities.                                                                                                                                                          -Ability to be away from home one or more nights to attend training sessions as assigned by the Board or Superintendent

   PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

 Shall comply with and perform duties as required by Kansas and federal law.

  • Comply with the IRS regulations and Fair Labor Standards Act.
  • Maintain and keep secure all payroll records.
  • Issue employment information and documents to new employees.
  • Send terminating or retiring employees proper exit forms.
  • Serve as KPERS Designated Agent, cafeteria 125 plan contact, 403(b) plan contact, worker’s compensation contact and health insurance contact person.
  • Keep accurate records and file all quarterly payroll reports.
  • Serve on Teachers Negotiations Committee.
  • Staff Contracts.
  • Teacher Licensure.
  • Complete the Licensed Personnel Report.
  • Be willing to attend meetings and seminars that apply to duties in order to stay abreast of changes in the law, policy, etc.
  • Assist with SO66 Superintendent Report.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Board or Superintendent.

 SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 Assist with clerk of board duties if the Clerk of the Board is unable to attend the board meeting.

  • Assist the Superintendent when requested to do so.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Board or Superintendent.

 CRITICAL SKILLS / EXPERTISE:

 Maintains appropriate confidentiality needed to protect the privacy of individuals.

  • Maintain good communications with office personnel.
  • Have the ability to hear sufficiently to use a telephone.
  • Have the ability to use appropriate computer programs.
  • Possess skills suitable for using a variety of office equipment.
  • Able to work well with board members, employees, patrons and other appropriate individuals or groups.
  • Able to respond to information requests in a courteous, timely and helpful manner.
  • Be willing to accept and make/change when necessary.
  • Be a positive representative of U.S.D. #380 and public education.
