Response to July 15th Governor's Action

Dear Vermillion Families,

Today at 3:00, Governor Laura Kelly, the Commissioner of Education and the Secretary of Health (KDHE) held a joint press conference announcing the delay of the start of the school year.  The first date that school may begin will be after Labor Day. We understand this brings many questions and concerns from our community. We will be conducting all of our summer activities until the Executive Order is released and we will adjust accordingly.  The district Reopening Team, comprised of 20 USD 380 team members will continue to work on our plans for the upcoming school year. We will look at the calendar to discuss changes as a result of the Governor's order. Those changes will be communicated once we finalize the new calendar. We appreciate your flexibility and understanding as we navigate these uncharted waters. As always, the district will continue to prioritize the needs of our students and staff as we move forward with our planning.

Sincerely,

Matt Rogers

Superintendent of Schools
