Presidential Fitness Testing
by Brian Ebert
It’s that time again for students at Frankfort Schools to begin their Presidential Fitness Testing. We test at the beginning of school and again at the end of the school year. Tests include shuttle run—measuring speed and quickness, sit-ups—measuring core endurance, push-ups—measuring upper body strength, sit and reach—testing lower body flexibility, and finally, an endurance run. Ages 6 and 7 run a quarter mile, ages 8 and 9 run a half mile, and 10 and up run one mile. Anyone who is enrolled in a physical education class is eligible for testing. Typically, boys struggle with flexibility and girls struggle with upper body strength. Please help your student prepare for these tests.
