I am a Frankfort native. I went to elementary school in the "old" grade school and attended Frankfort High School. I graduated from high school in 2000. Even though I bleed red and blue - "Rock Chalk" - I decided to attend Kansas State University and major in Elementary Education. I began college in the fall of 2000 and graduated with a B.S. in Elementary Education in the spring of 2004.
I began teaching 3rd grade at Frankfort in the fall of 2007. I have been teaching at USD 380 for 10 years.
My first teaching position was at Sacred Heart Catholic School in Topeka, Kansas in 2004. I had the pleasure of teaching kindergarteners my very first year and I loved it! My husband and I then moved back to Frankfort in 2005 and I began teaching at Centralia, also part of USD 380. My job there was the Reading Coach. I worked with all students K-12 to help them with their comprehension skills and reading ability. I worked at Centralia for 2 years before starting at Frankfort.
My husband, Dusty and I got married in September 2004, during my first year of teaching. We have two very spirited and adventurous boys. Kale is 6 and is in the first grade at Frankfort with Mrs. Tilley. Bodee is 3 and just began preschool at Vermillion with Mrs. Musil; he is in love! Ellie, age 12, is my very first baby; she is a yellow labrador retreiver. The newest nuisance, I mean addition, to our family is a patterdale/bulldog mix named Thomas. He is 8 months old.
I am a fitness enthuasist. I love being active and trying new workouts. Several years ago my husband, brother, and I participated in a Tough Mudder competetion; it is tough! My family and I spend most of our time outdoors riding bikes, walking the dogs, riding dirt bikes (I watch mostly) or just playing. I have a terrible habit of reading very late/early into the morning when I actually have time to sit down and get into a book. Recently I have started refurbishing and refinishing furniture. I have always loved antiques of all kinds, but am just starting this journey into restoring them. Shopping used to be something I really enjoyed, but two little boys and shopping don't mix very well, so now most of my shopping is done online.
