Lora graduated in 1987 from Centralia High School, in 1991 from Bethany College in Lindsborg, Kansas, and in 2003 from Fort Hays State University, in Hays, Kansas.

Lora began teaching at Centralia Schools in the fall of 2010. She teaches 6/7 Language Arts, 8 Language Arts, English 10, and English 12.
Lora began teaching in 1992 in Faxon, OK, where she taught 7/8 English Language Arts, 7/8 Earth and Life Science, 7th Math, and 5-8 P.E. In May of 1995, when Faxon Schools closed, Lora took a 7th grade Life Scence teaching position at Cache Middle School in Cache, OK. In 1997, she moved closer to home and taught 7th grade Science in Lawton, OK.
After moving back to Kansas in 1999, Lora taught 6th grade P.E., HS Health, and HS P.E. in Belleville, KS. In 2001, Lora became the Belleville High School Librarian. After six years in Belleville, Lora's husband, John Whetzal, accepted the prinicipal position at Centralia Schools. Lora then taught 7/8 English Language Arts at Valley Heights in Blue Rapids, KS for four years.
Lora married John Whetzal in 1991. They have three children. Their son, Evan, is married to Ashley Whetzal. Both Evan and Ashley graduated from Centralia High School in 2010. Their two daughters, Logan, SR, and Keaton, FR, currently attend Centralia Schools.
Lora and her family live in the southwest corner of Centralia with their three dogs, Jenner, Jancy, and Piper, several cats, and an occaisonal steer or two.
During the summer months, Lora can be found working in the garden and flower beds, reading a book, painting, sewing, or at her girls' softball or volleyball games. During the school year, she is usually cheering at ballgames, coaching basketball, or grading papers.
